*New Florida Home Hardening Sales Tax Refund - Effective July 1, 2026*

Beginning July 1, 2026, eligible Florida Homeowners may apply to the Florida Department of Revenue for a refund of the state sales tax paid on qualifying home hardening products. The refund program applies to purchases made July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. 

THE MY SAFE FLORIDA HOME PROGRAM DOES NOT ADMINISTER THIS REFUND. APPLYING FOR THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE'S TAX REFUND IS NOT THE SAME AS SUBMITTING A MSFH PROGRAM APPLICATION. 

Our goal is to educate Florida Homeowners on additional state incentives as they become available. If Homeowners are eligible for both programs, there is not a conflict in receiving both an MSFH Grant and the sales tax refund. 

Products requested for tax refund eligibility must meet Florida's required impact and wind-resistance standards. The refund currently applies to impact-resistant windows, impact-resistant exterior doors and impact-resistant garage doors. If these products were purchased within the time frame above, eligible Homeowners may receive a refund of the state sales tax paid, up to $500 per eligible property. 

The Department of Revenue will require documentation when reviewing applications for potential tax refunds. Homeowners are encouraged to save copies of itemized receipts, paid invoices, proof of payment, product documentation, and any installation records if they intend to submit.

Applications will be submitted through the Florida Department of Revenue. Any interested Homeowners are encouraged to visit the Florida Department of Revenue's website once application instructions and forms are available.
