INSPECTION AND GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
We’ve made some enhancements to the Applicant Portal. While the layout may look a bit different, the overall process remains unchanged. If you have already received approval for a Grant, your process will not be interrupted.
Applicants who HAVE previously received a MSFH Initial Inspection are able to complete the Prioritization Questionnaire in My Safe Florida Home 1.0 to be sorted into a Grant Group for accessing the Grant Application. Applicants who HAVE NOT yet received a MSFH Initial Inspection are able to complete the Prioritization Questionnaire in My Safe Florida Home 2.0 to be sorted into an Inspection Group for accessing the Inspection Application. The system version has no effect on case processing or funding eligibility.
Once you submit your Prioritization Questionnaire, your case will be sorted into a Prioritization Group. Your Prioritization Group will determine the date an Inspection or Grant Application will be available to you. If the MSFH Program runs out of available funding prior to the date your Group is to be opened, you will not be able to apply for an Inspection or Grant.
On the applicable date, you may complete and submit the Inspection or Grant Application in the Applicant Portal:
Access to the Inspection and Grant Applications for all dates is available at 8AM EST.
*Group 5 Applicants are ineligible for Grants and will not be allowed to access Grant Application.

Hi Tony,
Inspection and Grant Applications are currently open. However, mobile and manufactured homes are not eligible to receive a free MSFH Program Initial Inspection. You may still find helpful resources and support through local county or different state housing programs. Reaching out to them could open up additional options that may better fit your needs.

Hi Jacinta,
The Program does not provide a list of recommended Contractors, as the decision about which Contractor to work with is entirely up to each Homeowner. However, we do offer helpful guidance on our website.
There is a dedicated section with tips and best practices to help you choose a reliable, qualified contractor:
Welcome To The Contractor Resource Center Micro - My Safe Florida Home
Some general advice to get you started would be:
1. Start with Referrals- Ask friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers who’ve had similar work done. Personal experiences are often the most reliable indicators of quality and professionalism.
2. Check for Property Licensing & Insurance - A reputable contractor should have:
You can ask for proof or look up the contractor in your state’s licensing database: Licensing Portal - License Search
3. Read Reviews - Online reviews (Google, Yelp, Better Business Bureau, Angi, HomeAdvisor)
4. Get Multiple Quotes - Look for multiple quotes to compare price, scope of work, materials included and timeline to ensure program guidelines are being met.
5. Trust Your Instincts - If something feels off, pressured, or just not right it's completely okay to walk away.

You will continue to receive system reminders for Task Notifications until you click the blue button at the bottom of the screen titled “Complete & Submit Task” and “Continue”. After clicking continue, a green pop-up will briefly display saying task is complete. The task will now show as complete. If you complete this task in error, it has no negative impact on your case status or Application in the system. You can always return to view the information provided from completed tasks in the “My Tasks” section.
We have an article that shows example images for completing Task Notifications in the Applicant Portal:
Task Notification: Grant Group 1-4 Assigned : Support Center

I was assigned Grant Group 3. I understood my next task was to be to get a proposal from a licensed contractor, which I have received. I seem to have open tasks that I thought had been completed

Hi Cynthia! If an Applicant applies and is approved for a free MSFH Program Initial Inspection, a MSFH Program Inspector will be assigned to complete the Initial Inspection. The Applicant will receive an email from the MSFH Program, providing the name and contact information of the assigned Inspector. The Inspector will contact the Applicant within seven (7) days to schedule the Initial Inspection. Applicants are not able to choose the Inspector for the Hurricane Mitigation Inspection

There are multiple reasons that a case could be closed out. Please review these two Knowledge Base articles that have more information:

It shows that my case has been closed and marked as a duplicate. Could you please provide clarification on why this occurred and what steps I should take to proceed?

Once the Mitigation Inspection is completed, eligible Applicants will move into the "Indicate Interest in Grant Application" case status. At this point you are encouraged to re-enter the case to read some introductory information regarding the Grant Applicant and indicate to the Program if you would like to move forward. Once this step is completed, Applicants move to the "Pending Grant Group Sorting" case status and will be sorted into the applicable Grant Groups for accessing the Grant Application.
