Insurance cancelled before Contractors completed repairs.  I uploaded MSFH Final Inspection and Ins co said policy is in non-renewal status that will not be changed.

I have installed a SWR with a new roof AND hurricane shutters on my lanai openings.  Ins is cancelled and MSFH says get new info from Ins and Ins says no.

What can I do to request Draw of $10.000.

Hi Emi!

ALL Applicants must provide documentation identifying the home has an insured value of $700,000 or less, as requested in the "Grant Application." The insurance documentation must clearly state the home's insured value under Coverage A (Dwelling).

This is a requirement to apply for both Matching and Low-Income Grants.

Low-Income Homeowners with Grants approved AFTER August 4, 2025, must provide documentation of homeowners insurance and insurance discounts as requested by the MSFH Program.

As a part of the Grant Application, Homeowners will be asked to provide their selected Contractor's information for review.  An Applicant will not be eligible for Disbursement if the initial construction permit was issued before the Applicant's Grant Application is approved or if construction is completed or in progress at the time of the Applicant's MSFH Program Initial Inspection.

do I need a letter/email from MySafeFloridaHome before I can get quotes from contractors? This is what contractors are telling me! I have yet to receive a formal letter/email.

My mom’s house is paid off and I had read that for low income individuals over 60 the property did not need to be insured. Is there anything that can be done?

That is a good question. Homeowners must documentation that the final inspection report has been submitted to the insurance company in the Applicant Portal as requested in the "Draw Request" steps.

Some examples of this documentation can include:

  • A new declarations page that reflects change in premium amount due to discounts received from completing Mitigation Project(s). The document submitted must show an effective date or amended date after the Final Inspection Report.
  • A letter or an email from insurance provider stating the change in premium amount due to discounts received from completing Mitigation Project(s) or stating that discounts will not be applied.
  • A quote from insurance provider showing new premium amount.

PLEASE NOTE: Low-Income Applicants that received Grant Approval prior to August 4, 2025, that do not have Homeowners Insurance must submit a letter stating they have no Homeowner's insurance if they cannot provide a declarations page.
