How do I change the Contractor after my Grant is approved?

Modified on Fri, 6 Mar at 1:42 PM

If you decide you want a different Contractor, you can enter the new company’s information during the Draw Stage. If you change Contractors after receiving Grant Approval, it is your responsibility to make sure the new company is properly licensed with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). The Program only confirms the Contractor you chose at the time of Grant Approval. If you do not use a properly licensed Contractor or complete a Recommended Improvement as outlined in the Initial Inspection Report, you will not receive Grant funds.

If you already signed a contract, you would need to speak with that company directly about any changes.

PLEASE NOTE: My Safe Florida Home Program and the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) are not involved in or responsible for the contractor selection process or any aspects of the construction and payment process.  The program assumes no responsibility for the performance of the homeowner’s selected contractor. It is the sole responsibility of the homeowner to find and manage an eligible contractor and oversee the contractor relationship.
